Equal opportunity? Auction is one of those keys.
Many think of auction as an event within the movies and dramas on
television. It’s closer than you think here in Malaysia. As an
auctioneer for the past 13 years and counting, I hope to enlighten even
more investors about auction. AuctioNEWS will continue to share the
interesting aspects of auction and how all could benefit from it too.
Imagine this. A man in suit conducting a competitive bidding with a pool
of crowd sitting in front of him. The man points at the bidder in the
crowd who raises up the number card. All the while, raising his voice
and the suspense. Calling ONCE, calling TWICE and… SOLD! A loud and
clear hammering sound sealed the sale. The bidder might just be you. A
few years later, the asset that you bid may give you good returns!
But then, why the use of a hammer (auction)? In judicial process, a
hammer represents justice. News coverage about legal and court judgments
are usually complemented by an image of a hammer. Judges hand their
judgement with a hammer and auction does the same thing to seal a deal!
What do these two share in common?
They share the same principle of fairness. Auction strives to provide
equal opportunity for everyone to bid for it. It aims to provide all
stakeholders with the best possible value. Auction does not favour
anyone. It sells to the highest offer. It is done through an open and
transparent platform, under public eyes and scrutiny. In our daily life,
we want to be treated equally regardless of race and religion. Every
citizen wants fair opportunity with no unfair interference. This is why
I love auction. Let us enhance investments through sharing of insights
