My brother-in-law just got to know that one piece of RM100 note with a serial number of AA8888888 could be bidded to RM76,000 a few days ago. The world of investment is always about scarcity, even properties. That is why in a hotspot, prices would go up because the supply within that hotspot is limited. If it is not limited, then the prices would continue to be weak since new units could be built easily. People always joke that paintings would only appreciate in value when the original painter could no longer paint. That’s scarcity too.
Now, let’s look at the people around us. How many actually save and invest with their savings? If only the minority are doing this, it is time that we follow the minority. Let me be very direct, the rich ones are always the minority in any country within this world. The question is, since we know about it, what are we doing about it? For working professionals, it is even more important to save and invest because we earn only a fixed salary every month. (Yes, that includes me as well). Even if we are aiming to go up the corporate career ladder, always remember that the one who can afford to maintain their lifestyle when they retire need not the CEO of the company but the staff who has invested a lot during his working life.
